Eliza Bangert, Flute/Piccolo
Eliza Bangert is a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra. During the 2009-2010 season, she was principal flute of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra. She is also a former member of the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra and the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and the South Bend Symphony Orchestra. She won first place in the Society of American Musicians Young Artist Competition in 2006. Eliza co-founded the Chicago chapter of Classical Revolution, organized the ensemble for its first two years of existence, and participates regularly in its performances at new and unusual venues across the city. During the summer, she teaches at the UW-Whitewater Flute Camp and the Elmhurst Community Intermediate Flute Camp. Eliza earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Performance from the University of Northern Iowa, where she studied with Angeleita Floyd and Swedish flutist Torleif Ander. She completed the Master of Music degree in Performance at DePaul University, where she studied with Mary Stolper.

Youna Cho, Clarinet
Youna graduated from DePaul University with a bachelors degree in Clarinet Performance and Music Education. She then received her Masters degree from Northwestern University in Clarinet Performance. She is an active performer and teacher in the Chicago-land area.

Kathryn Flum, Flute/Oboe
Kathryn is a native of northern California and earned a Master of Music in Performance candidate at DePaul University. She has performed with ensembles such as the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Sinfonietta and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and has recorded extensively for Carl Fischer Publications. Her primary teachers include Mary Stolper, Laura Barron and Stephanie Jutt.

Heather Johnson, Flute
An active freelance performer and educator throughout the Chicago area, flutist Heather Johnson holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance from the University of Oregon and a Masters Degree in Music Performance from DePaul University. Heather played flute and piccolo with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago from 2008-2010, where she received regular coachings from Jennifer Gunn and worked under the batons of Riccardo Muti, Bernard Haitink, Sir Mark Elder, Esa-Pekka Salonen, David Robertson, Larry Rachleff, and Cliff Colnot, among others. While playing with Civic, Heather also participated in the MusiCorps Program, geared toward the engagement of audiences not regularly exposed to classical music. Heather substitutes regularly with the Quad City Symphony Orchestra and has also performed with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, Northbrook Symphony Orchestra, Wisconsin Philharmonic Orchestra, Oconomowoc Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Opera Chicago, and Fifth House Ensemble. She is also a member of the Lodos Ensemble, a Chicago based woodwind quintet composed of young professional freelancers throughout the city. Heather’s principal teachers include Nancy Andrew, Mary Stolper, and Jennifer Gunn.

Meaghan Kawaller, Clarinet
Meaghan received her BM from the University of North Texas and her MM and Performance Certificate from DePaul University. Her main teachers include Larry Combs, Julie DeRoche, and Dr. John Scott. In 2010, Meaghan was awarded third prize in the International Clarinet Association’s Young Artist Competition held in Austin, TX. She has performed with such ensembles as the Chicago Sinfonietta, Dal Niente, the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, the North Texas Wind Symphony, and is a founding member of the Chicago based woodwind quintet, The Lodos Ensemble. A dedicated teacher, Meaghan is adjunct faculty at DePaul University, Elmhurst College and the Chicago Academy for the Arts.

Tim Sawyier, Oboe
Tim attended Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute of Music, graduating in 2008. While there he was a student of Richard Woodhams, and was twice a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center in Lenox, MA. He currently serves as principal oboe of the Dubuque Symphony, and last summer performed at Door County’s “Midsummer Music Festival.”

Katelyn Simon, Oboe
Katelyn has performed with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Rockford Symphony, and is a member of the Northbrook Symphony Orchestra. She hold a master’s degree in performance from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s from Baldwin-Wallace College, where her principal teachers were Michael Henoch and Elizabeth Camus. She is currently an active freelancer in the Chicagoland area.
